The day, weather wise, was gorgeous! The brief was simply ‘the colour purple’, the bride’s absolute favourite colour! The wedding reception took place at the beautiful seaside venue of Sails on the Bay in Elwood. Michelle and Jeff kick started our 2016 on Jan 2nd with a love for each other that rang true in the way they looked at and treated each one another, their smiles filled our hearts and reminded us why we SO love what we do!
The colour purple can be a difficult one to work with, use all dark tones and it can seem sombre and the look quickly becomes heavy and weighted; Use all lighter tones of purple and it can be become a little tired and bland. Mix it with too much shiny silver, it can start to look inexpensive, mixed with too much tizzy gold and it can start to look overdone. The trick is to mix different shades of purple with different shades of natural greenery. Avoid mixing in any white blooms as the look will quickly start to look dated. If you’re looking at incorporating a lighter colour, a blush or antique pink will complement well. It’s all a balancing act!
We spent many hours working on that fine balance and covered off every detail with Michelle to her liking, we wanted it to look natural and have an ease about the overall look. The result, perfection, it’s a good sign when the venue staff are gushing over the room, taking pictures and saying they hadn’t seen it look this beautiful. “The colours are gorgeous!” said the venue coordinator. Set against the blue water backdrop of Elwood beach, this was spectacularly beautiful by day just as much as it was by night.
Congratulations to Michelle & Jeff, may your lives together be filled with love and success in all that you do…with the patter of teeny-tiny feet some day very soon x – Team Lavish.
