It’s your wedding day, a day celebrated with all of your closest loved ones – each and every one! Many have the thought about including their beloved pooch in their wedding day, but don’t have the clue how to make it happen. Here are our tips on making a thought into a reality!
1. Start early
A simple outing can be such an exciting event for a dog, so we recommend starting them off early. Take your loving pooch to as many events as you can, before the wedding day, to mellow out some of that hard-to-manage excitement.
2. Choosing your venue
This is a big one! You’re venue has to be onboard with the idea, so having it made clear early will mean that it will be accommodated during the planning process. If you hit them with the idea close to the date, they may not be as open to the idea.
3. Invest in some training
If you’re dog is very well trained already, you can skip this step! But for the rest, having an obedient dog will help the process run smoothly. Knowing that they won’t run off and get lost or have an accident in the aisle, will be one less stress on the day.
4. Ask for a favour
It’s a good idea to have a friend (who knows the dog well) to look after your pooch throughout the day. That way you know they’re safe and you won’t be distracted while saying you’re vows!
5. Send him home
While you love your dog to bits, a wedding reception probably isn’t an ideal place for him. Organise someone to collect and take him home after the ceremony, where he can play to his hearts content.
6. You know best
While there are many tips we can offer you, you know best! You know them best, what his/her behaviours are and what makes him/her happy. Do what works for you and your best pal, to make it an extra special occasion!
