There are many things to consider when picking your wedding date, to ensure the wedding of your dreams becomes a reality. Here are a few key things to think about, when you’re searching for the perfect date!
Schedule
Of course, you will need to allow ample time to plan your wedding, but remember to allow time for pre-wedding activities such as hens & bucks, rehearsals, and travel for yourself or your guests.
Venue Availability
If you have your heart set on a venue, their availability will effect your wedding date. Some venues book out years in advance, it’s always good to check your venue’s availability early so you can secure your booking for the date you desire.
Vendor Availability
If you think certain parts of your wedding day trump the venue selection, it’s always a good idea to check the availability of these vendors before putting down your deposit for a venue. Of course, this doesn’t rule out having the perfect vendors and the perfect venue, but it’s a good idea to check your priorities before setting your date.
The Season
Dreaming of a garden wedding? Winter probably isn’t an ideal season to book an outdoor wedding. The warmer months are always more popular when it comes to weddings, so you’re dream venue may be booked out for years and years, for your desired date. You may like to consider getting married during an off-peak season. While a Winter wedding can be just as (if not more) beautiful than a Summer wedding, venues don’t tend to book out as quickly during these months.
Significant Dates
Double check that there aren’t any clashing dates when booking your wedding. Big family birthdays, your best friends wedding, christmas day and many more events fill up the calendar. We advise that you work around these dates, to ensure that all of your invited guests can make it to you’re special day.
Your Honeymoon
Want to leave for your honeymoon the day after your wedding and are planning on travelling Europe in Spring, or planning to go skiing in the Swiss Alps? If you have the intention to leave for your honeymoon right after the wedding, the season overseas could alter your wedding date. Check with a flight agency to see the best time of year to see your desired travel destination.
