Mia was involved in the family business, (the now famous Chris’s Dips Co) until she moved to join her love Dave, who was stationed at a base in Toowoomba, Queensland.
Mia contacted A Lavish Affair from Toowoomba and we provided her assistance in planning and styling her wedding, from here in Melbourne. We hand selected some venues, consulting via email and they chose a beautiful winery restaurant with stunning sunset views and excellent menu.
It was a lovely experience working with Mia and Dave; they carefully considered our suggestions, everything from the flowers to the ceremony location to colour choice for the theme, making our whole collaboration a breeze.
Our biggest challenge for the day was the threat of thunderstorms before the ceremony. Mia had absolutely fallen in love with the outdoor garden location and quite understandably did not want to use the wet weather backup option for her ceremony. Rain was forecast in the weeks leading up to the day, and it turned out to be very overcast in the morning as we drove into the Valley.
Under normal circumstances, a venue coordinator would have made the decision earlier in the day to set up undercover. In fact, we were urged many times that day to move inside. But we held off, knowing how much it would mean to Mia to have her wedding in this beautiful outdoor spot and we promised her we would do all we could do to make that happen.
We watched the weather radar right up to the last minute before the bride’s arrival. We had set up outside and ensured we had extra staff on hand should the ceremony need to be moved inside at a moment’s notice. Trusting our research and instincts we went ahead, and in the end, the rain held off, and Mia got the wedding she had dreamed of.
After the wedding, Mia told us “everything was amazing and above expectation”. We were all very happy campers!” And for us rain or shine that is our ultimately our goal!
